Playa Chacal

Chacala is one of the most underdeveloped beaches along the coast. Aside from a resort property, the beach is void of any excess. Visitors who head to this shore are doing so in order to escape the pressures of daily life and enjoy a day of seclusion in a tropical paradise.

Set along the southern outskirts of Akumal, Playa Chacal is on the East edge of Mexico. You might want even if you are not staying in the vicinity. Playa Chacal is one beach that never gets too crowded, but it's still a popular and generally active spot.

How to Access The Beach
Exit off of Highway 200 at the "Chacala 9 Kilometers" sign. Follow the road to the beach.

Amenities and Ambiance

Playa Chacala is a horseshoe shaped inlet with clear, calm waters that are so bright blue it's almost hard to believe such a color exists. The shore is covered in white sand that is soft and warm enough to sink your feet into and dotted with coconut palms.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you're bringing the kids, or plan to spend all day outside.
