Named for the way the sea shells on the beach resemble the setting sun, Sommerset Beach Creek is a quiet locale on Andros Island where visitors can split their days between swimming, sunning, and beach combing.
Located on the eastern edge of North Andros Island, You should consider stopping by even if you aren't staying nearby. Sommerset Creek Beach stands out from other beaches because it's the ideal location for escaping the hustle of The Bahamas' urban areas. Other nearby beaches in the Bahamas may have the same warm sand and calming breezes as Sommerset Creek Beach, but are usually busier because they're frequented by tourists looking for a lively scene.
Sommerset Creek Beach is accessible via a long dirt road called Beach Road that splits off Queen's Highway and heads towards the east coast of Andros Island.
At just over a mile long, Sommerse Creek Beach features white sands, sparkling topaz waters, and Casuarina trees.
Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot.
If you happen to like sunny days that provide an idyllic enclave, then you should enjoy Sommerset Creek Beach; it is hidden away in a less urbanized sector of North Andros Island.
Visitors will find this beach on the East coast of North Andros Island. It's located near the Mount Pleasant Fishing Lodge and any nearby accommodations, which is one of the closest hotels accessible from Sommerset Creek Beach, despite there not being too many additional nearby attractions.
Not far away you'll find, a town which is an interesting area that brings together the quietude of the Caribbean and the urbanization of city life. From the beach, Andros Town is not far away, about two and a half miles (four and a half kilometers).
The mood here——social and lively, or virtually empty—— will depend on how many hotel guests decide to make the trip as well. There aren't many large hotels in the immediate vicinity, but you may see guests staying at the few small lodgings in the area.
Guests will find a fairly wide variety of accommodation options to pick from in the area surrounding the beach. The most accessible of which can be seen in the table below.
