If you plan on spending most of your time vacationing on Anegada beach hopping and exploring one of the least developed inhabited islands in the Caribbean, it might be beneficial to rent a vehicle rather than depend on taxi cabs to get your from place to place.
...a few tips to take into consideration...
Due to the rugged terrain that most tourists try and take on when they make their way to remote beaches and natural attractions, most rental agencies rent out jeeps with four wheel drive and trucks rather than your typical four-seat sedan. If you have a specific vehicle in mind that you prefer to drive, make sure to call the rental agency in advance to confirm that they do indeed carry what you're after.
There are a few tips to take into consideration before you get behind the wheel on Anegada. While most vehicles place the driver on the left side of the car like in the United States, driving is done on the left side of the road like in England. Seat belts are required to be worn at all times, so states local law, and you will need to purchase a BVI Driving Permit for $10(USD) in order to drive if you are staying on the island for longer than 30 consecutive days. Rental car agencies can issue this document to you when you arrive and prove that you are legally permitted to drive in your country of origin. If you are staying on Anegada for less than a month, simply present a valid driver's license from your country of origin and you should have no trouble getting behind the wheel.
Only locally owned operations exist on Anegada, so you may have to work with a company you've never done business with before rather than relying on a name you know and trust.

Renting a car on Anegada is an option for those who prefer to take their transportation into their own hands. The age requirement for renting a vehicle on this island is 25, although you should contact your preferred rental agency to confirm that this is their policy. Rentals will cost between $50 and $80(USD) a day, or between $300 and $500(USD) a week.
As you can see, prices will vary, with the season and vehicle popularity. The low rates in the tables are usually only available from the least costly local firms during the off season. The high end of the range is what you can expect at one of the busiest firms during the peak season.

Due to the low population of people living on the island, you can expect to see very few cars on the road around you as you explore. This makes it relatively easy for drivers who are not used to driving on the left side of the road to get some practice in without fear of irritating local drivers. Take your time, go slow, and remember that safety is always first. Keep in mind that the lack of people living on the island means it isn't very developed. Road signs can be scarce and crudely made when they do exist. Locals tend to give directions relying on landmarks instead of road names
