Taking the ferry is a unique and charming way to navigate Anguilla's waterways and visit neighboring islands. Planning a day trip to nearby St. Martin is no problem at all with the frequent ferry services from Anguilla. This little tropical island is a great place to explore the wonders of the Caribbean.
Vacationers don't need to make reservations to catch a ride on any of the island's fantastic ferries. All you have to do to take the ferry from Anguilla to Sint Maarten is put your name and passport number on the manifest at the pier as soon as you get there. You'll pay a departure tax of $5 and a security fee of $3(USD) on top of the fee for riding aboard the ferry, and then you're all set. Ferries are operated by independent boat owners, and a public ferry from St. Martin is scheduled to run approximately every forty-five minutes from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. between Blowing Point, Anguilla and Marigot, St. Martin. The trips take approximately 20 minutes, and is quite reasonably priced at $15(USD), in addition to the departure and security tax. When returning to Anguilla from St. Martin you will need to pay this fare once again, as well as a $5(USD) departure fee.

Once you have purchased your ferry ticket, make sure that all of your luggage is close at hand to prevent your bags from being lost or stolen. Always keep your passport in a secure and handy location. It will be checked before you leave the port, as you are traveling to a different country. Once the captain has made the announcement, you can begin to board the ferry. These ferries do not carry vehicles between the islands.
Planning a ferry ride during your vacation on Anguilla is great way to experience the smaller neighboring islands, which may be more easily accessed by boat than other means of transportation.
