Located on the east west coast of Anguilla, Long Pond is a popular birding spot, and a calm body of water near one of the island's most turbulent coastal spots.
Long Pond is about 1.2 kilometers long and is separated from the choppy sea by 300 meters of limestone topped with scrub vegetation.
Identified as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International because it is a nesting and roosting spot for Least Terns between the months of April and September. Common Terns and Snowy Plovers along with Green-throated Caribs and Caribbean Elaenias also make their homes here.
Long Pond lies on the island of Anguilla, in the vicinity of East End; it's two and a half miles (four kilometers) to the east of the Valley.
