The calm waters of Shoal Bay West are excellent for swimming and snorkeling, with coral reefs just off the shore. Occasionally there is a crowd here due to day-trippers from St. Martin, but it's typically a quiet beach.

Located in Shoal Bay West, 2.0 miles south west of Meads Bay, this beach is on the South West coast of Anguilla. You should think about stopping by even if you aren't staying nearby. If you prefer to escape the buzz of the city, it's good to know that Anguilla has plenty of secluded beaches. This atmosphere is not for everyone, though. If you seek a fun and active spot, you're much more likely to visit Shoal Bay West, which has a wider range of amenities nearby.

How to Access The Beach
This beach is just one of the lovely bay beaches that surround the island of Anguilla and is perhaps one of the less accessible beaches for tourists, unless you're staying at the resorts that line the beachfront.

Amenities and Ambiance

Shoal Bay West is near the southwestern tip of the island, next to Maunday's Bay. This beach is populated by hotels and resorts and flanked by mangroves and sea grape brush. A walk to the western edge of the beach will reveal a great lookout spot over the water.

There is also a snack bar here. Depending on the season and time of day, you may also be able to buy some food from one of the mobile vendors who are generally found here.

Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot. The water here is fit for snorkeling, so bring along some equipment if you're wanting to check out the underwater sites. Shoal Bay West is a secluded beach, so visitors need not worry about huge crowds. It does border popular Maunday's Bay, however, so it's not completely isolated.

You should remember that the area right around Shoal Bay West is a popular spot, so plan accordingly.
