Deep Bay

This is a long beach without a lot of shade, but with calm waters and soft sand. This beach not only offers great snorkeling, swimming and splashing, but interesting hikes too. You can walk up to the tumultuous waters at the tip of the cape and enjoy the endless blue view of the ocean, especially at sunset.

Located in Five Islands, Deep Bay is on the North West edge of Antigua. You should think about stopping by even if you aren't staying particularly close by. Beachgoers should keep in mind that, though Deep Bay isn't considered a quiet and secluded part of the coast, you also wouldn't call it particularly popular. This makes it a good option for families who want to make the most of their trip to the beach but wish to stay away from the most populated spots.

How to Access The Beach
Deep Bay is conveniently located, just about ten minutes West of St. John's by car. A ten minute hike North of the beach will bring you to Fort Barrington, which dates back to around 1780.

Amenities and Ambiance

Facing West and covered with gray-white sand, this beach has a few interesting features. A hundred year-old shipwreck lies in the middle of the bay's water's and makes for great snorkeling. The bay's shape calms the waters here so swimming is relaxing and carefree.

The concession stand located here is another lunchtime alternative.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot. The water in the area is of good snorkeling quality, so bring along some equipment if you're looking to see some exciting marine life.

Be mindful that the area surrounding Deep Bay is visited by quite a number of tourists, so show up early.
