The waters of Shoal Bay lap upon two separate beaches. The bigger and more popular Jabberwock beach and the smaller Shoal Bay Beach on the south end of the bay. You can walk from one to the other, but only on an inland footpath.
Situated on the northwestern part of Dutchman Bay, near St. John's, Shoal Bay is on the North coast of Antigua. You should consider stopping by whether or not you are staying in the vicinity. Antigua's beaches are hardly known for being secluded, but Shoal Bay is a little bit further from the crowds, which makes it an excellent attraction for those of you who want to stay away from big crowds, but still get the most out of their beach visit.
Shoal Bay is a little strip of sandy beach on Antigua's east coast. It's inland edge rests almost directly on the campus of American University of Antigua. It usually far less populated than neighboring Jabberwock Beach.
Unfortunately, public restrooms aren't available, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business.
You'll find this beach on the North coast of Antigua; the area hosts attractions such as, which is one and a quarter miles to the south.
If you want more information on the history of Antigua, there are lots of sites which offer a historic look at the nation. The nearest historical attraction is Old Sugar Mill Ruins, which is a short taxi trip or walk away from the coast.

From the coast, Dickenson Bay isn't far off, about three and a half miles (five and a half kilometers).
The popularity of this spot on any given day can vary, depending on time of day, season, and how full the nearby hotels are. The area is not home to many major hotels, but you may meet guests from smaller lodgings in the area.

Needless to say, Shoal Bay isn't the only beach worth visitng in Antigua.
You might also enjoy Long Island Beach West, located two and a half miles to the east. Others might prefer Jabberwock, which offers a few more possibilities for excitement, and isn't far from nearby attractions. You'll find it a quarter mile to the northwest.
You may also enjoy Runaway Beach, located not too far away, so a short ride in a taxi can take you where you want to go. Sugary white sand and tranquil waters distinguish Antigua's Runaway Beach. A popular spot for vacationers, the beach is located next door to another popular beach area, Dickinson's Bay. Visitors to Runaway Beach will enjoy its sparkling blue water and fantastic sunsets.
Of course, there are lots of other things to do and see in Antigua; then again, visiting Shoal Bay or the other beautiful beaches in the area can make your time in Antigua even more memorable.
