Shoal Bay

The waters of Shoal Bay lap upon two separate beaches. The bigger and more popular Jabberwock beach and the smaller Shoal Bay Beach on the south end of the bay. You can walk from one to the other, but only on an inland footpath.

Located on the northwestern outskirts of Dutchman Bay, near St. John's, Shoal Bay is on the North coast of Antigua. You might think about stopping by even if you are not staying in the immediate vicinity. Shoal Bay stands out because it's one of the best spots for getting away from vacation stresses, like overly crowded restaurants and attractions. Many of the other beaches you'll come across in Antigua may be just as refreshing as Shoal Bay, but tend to be more crowded since they're located by some of the most popular tourist areas in town.

How to Access The Beach

Bordered inland by a college campus and other buildings, Shoal Bay is best accessed by a footpath from neighboring Jabberwock Beach or from Jabberwock Road.

Amenities and Ambiance

Shoal Bay is a little strip of sandy beach on Antigua's east coast. It's inland edge rests almost directly on the campus of American University of Antigua. It usually far less populated than neighboring Jabberwock Beach.

Unfortunately, public restrooms aren't available, so if you're visiting with small children you might want to consider a different location.
