Annual Rainfall in Aruba

Aruba's weather is almost too perfect to be believed.  Located just outside the hurricane belt, even the outer bands of tropical storms rarely affect the island, and it is fortunate enough to not endure a monsoon season.  While the island does experience a rainy season, the weather is never so bad that one should avoid planning a vacation because of rain.

Aruba experiences about 18 to 20 total inches of rain annually, a fact which is evident in the flat, dry, desert landscape of the island.  Most of the rain occurs between late October and early January.  Although this time is called the rainy season, visitors hardly notice the showers because they have a tendency to fall overnight and occur in short bursts.  Even in December, when the island experiences the highest volume of rainfall at about three inches of rain, it will rarely cause a negative impact on plans to spend time outdoors.  Should you encounter a rare day of heavy rainfall, there are plenty of ways to salvage your trip, such as touring the National Archeological Museum, or checking out the nearest casino.

As you'll notice upon review of the charts below, November and December are the only months in which the island sees rainfall more than half of the days, and thunderstorms are so rare that they barely even register.  What this means for planning your vacation to Aruba is that rain is hardly ever worth considering when choosing the right time to go.

While it may be more likely that you get a sunburn than experience a rainshower, it is always best to be prepared.  If you're worried about a day outdoors being ruined by the rain, carry a light-weight umbrella and you'll find that there is no stopping you as you explore the "Happy Island."
