Harrismith Beach

Harrismith Beach, also known as Cave Bay due to the number of hidden caves along the coast, is an isolated little cove perfect for romantic beach trips and quiet picnics. There are no lifeguards on duty, and the beach is known to experience a strong undertow at times, so caution is recommended.

Located in St. Philip Parish, 1.9 miles northeast of Diamond Valley, Harrismith Beach is on the South East edge of Barbados. You might want to drop by regardless of whether you're staying in the immediate vicinity. The surrounding region is not overflowing with tourists, but that doesn't mean you won't find a fair amount of excitements at this beach.

How to Access The Beach

From the Harrismith Plantation House, visitors take a row of old stone steps down to the beach.

Amenities and Ambiance

Backed by the ruins of a plantation on a cliff side and a smattering of coconut palms, Harrismith Beach has a historic appeal that draws many visitors for an afternoon picnic on the soft white sand. The beach is protected by a offshore reef, which also promoted a bit of an undertow. Yet, close to shore, there clear shallow waters are perfect for dining sea sponges and other marine life.

Unfortunately, public restrooms aren't available, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun.
