Harrismith Beach

Harrismith Beach, also known as Cave Bay due to the number of hidden caves along the coast, is an isolated little cove perfect for romantic beach trips and quiet picnics. There are no lifeguards on duty, and the beach is known to experience a strong undertow at times, so caution is recommended.

Situated in St. Philip Parish, 1.9 miles northeast of Diamond Valley, Harrismith Beach is on the South East edge of Barbados. You might think about stopping by even if you aren't staying particularly close by. If there's one beach that appeals to a large rage of visitors, it's Harrismith Beach, since it's fun and active, but never too crowded. If you'd rather socialize than take a nap on a completely empty beach, but also want a little space to spread out, Harrismith Beach is worth a visit.

How to Access The Beach
From the Harrismith Plantation House, visitors take a row of old stone steps down to the beach.

Amenities and Ambiance

Backed by the ruins of a plantation on a cliff side and a smattering of coconut palms, Harrismith Beach has a historic appeal that draws many visitors for an afternoon picnic on the soft white sand. The beach is protected by a offshore reef, which also promoted a bit of an undertow. Yet, close to shore, there clear shallow waters are perfect for dining sea sponges and other marine life.

Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun.
