Hunte's Garden

These private gardens are the pride and joy of owner Anthony Hunte. He invites guests to come and walk his very large garden. Do not be discouraged by the idea of a personal garden, Anthony Hunte is a world recognized horticulturalist, and his garden is more of a jungle that you may think.

Hunte's Garden is lush and green, with many colorful flowers popping up in mini gardens that work together to create an artistic natural adventure. You will be able to find your way through by following the paved path that is set in place for you.

The garden is located in a gully surrounded by the rainforest, and offers a path that is easy to walk as you enjoy the mulch-dimentional gardens.

The garden offers above all else a peaceful stroll and possibly a sight of a some native wildlife. Additionally, you may run into Anthony, the owner, who will be more than willing to talk about his garden and answer any questions you may have. If you stay until dusk you'll be treated to the serenade of croaking frogs that reside on the property.

Location

Hunte's Garden is located within the eastern part of St. Thomas Parish, in Barbados; it's two miles (three and a half kilometers) to the south west of Bathsheba.

Located just 25 minutes drive from Holetown and St. Lawrence Gap, Hunte's Garden is easy to access in the verdant hills of St. Joseph's.

Nearby Restaurants

If you get hungry visiting the gardens, it definitely won't be a problem -- you will find a plentiful supply of local restaurants in this area. The most convenient restaurant to Hunte's Garden is Naniki Restaurant, which has a menu full of Caribbean dishes. The eatery is a short distance off, but far-removed enough that you may decide to make advance plans for employing a method of transport to get there. Paulo's Churrasco Do Brasil and Bonito Beach Bar & Restaurant are some of the other restaurant options within reach of this outdoor attraction you have the chance to enjoy the local cuisine in Barbados.

Active travelers that are a fan of botanical gardens, and are interested in visiting others, might check out Flower Forest and Orchid World; the first of which is a mile to the west of Hunte's Garden. You'll find a couple other activities nearby, including Cotton Tower Signal, which is less than a mile away St. Joseph Parish. You might want to also think about making the trip to Harrison's Cave, which is another attraction in the vicinity.
