Ragged Point is more popular as the location of a lighthouse than it is as a beach, but a beach it is. Located on the south east coast of the island, it has no amenities, so arrive prepared.
Located on the northern edge of St. Philip Parish, 1.8 miles northwest of Apple Hall, Ragged Point is on the East coast of Barbados. You should consider dropping by whether or not you are staying in the immediate vicinity. Love beach-going but hate the crowds? Extra space is just one of the perks that comes with finding a beach that isn't crowded into a major metropolitan area; beautiful but out-of-the-way beaches like Ragged Point make great places to spread out and relax.
Ragged Point may as well be named Rugged Point, with its rocky coastline and choppy dark waters. Hidden in this area is a small stretch of tan colored sand where visitors can set up a beach chair and catch some rays.
Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot.
Ragged Point offers those who visit an angelic and serene experience, since the surrounding area is free of city-life and traffic.
Visitors will find this beach on the East coast of Barbados; it's located near attractions like Ragged Point Lighthouse, which is only a short distance away, so some will want to take a cab, while others will find it a nice walk.
If you want to combine some cultural exploration with your trip to the beach, you might want to consider visiting Sunbury Plantation House & Museum, a lovely museum found four miles away, giving beachgoers the chance to escape that hot midday sunshine.

Ragged Point is in the Bathsheba area, so touring the city could be a fun side-trip after visiting the beach. The closest town is Bathsheba, which is not an overly urbanized area, but still has its fair share of things to do. From Ragged Point, Bathsheba is found maybe six and a half miles (ten and a half kilometers) away.
The number of other people sharing spots in the sand can vary widely, it depends on several things: the season, the weather, even how many people have booked nearby hotels. There aren't many large hotels in the immediate vicinity, but it can attract guests from smaller accommodations in the area.

If you like the ambiance at this beach, you might also like Consett Bay, located just a short distance away. If you're looking for a more active beach scene, you might enjoy people watching at Skeetes Bay. It's located a half mile to the west-northwest.
Another option worth considering is Bath Beach, located two and a half miles to the northwest.
Of course, there are lots of other things to do and see in Barbados; then again, Ragged Point is both a relaxing, sunny hangout and a stunning natural feature.
