Since its establishment in 1976, Caribelle Batik products have been highly sought after, serving as one of the top choices for batik in the country. Housed on a property previously owned by the great, great, great grandfather of Thomas Jefferson, there is a history here that can't be found elsewhere.

Caribelle Batik

Their batik products serve as wonderful gifts and souvenirs created through ancient techniques. Each one is unique and high quality, such as the 100% cotton clothing made on site. The product range contains many gift items, accessories and apparel, all made from Caribelle Batik's unique and distinctive fabrics. Visitors might even luck out, seeing a demonstration of a personalized batik being made.

Caribelle is not just a retail shop, however. It houses the production of Batik and daily demonstrations of the artform. Romney Manor is surrounded by stunning botanical gardens and now boasts a rainforest bar, which as the name suggests, overlooks a tropical rain forest and their own volcano!

Getting There

Caribelle Batik, located at Romney Manor, is found in Old Road Town, a village in Saint Thomas Middle Island Parish; it's five and a half miles (nine kilometers) to the west-northwest of Basseterre.

What's Nearby

Besides Caribelle Batik, the shopping opportunities in this area are pretty limited.

Outside of shopping, you can find a few local landmarks that you could have fun visiting while you are in Old Road Town. If immersing yourself in a historical site interests you, plan on spending time at both Romney Manor and Wingfield Estate.
