Since 1974 when Caribelle Batik produced its very first batik, its products have been highly sought after, and now serves as one of the top choices for batik in the country. Housed on a property that was once owned by the great, great, great grandfather of Thomas Jefferson, there is a history here that can't be found elsewhere.

Caribelle Batik

This batik produces some wonderful gifts and souvenirs that are still made with ancient techniques. The many products are all unique and of high quality, such as the 100% cotton clothing made on site. Caribelle Batik product range contains lots of gift items, accessories and apparel, all made from Caribelle Batik's unique and distinctive fabrics. Visitors might even luck into seeing a demonstration of a personalized batik being made.

But, Caribelle is not just a retail shop. It houses the production of Batik and the art form is demonstrated all day. Romney Manor is surrounded by stunning botanical gardens and now boasts a rainforest bar which as the name suggests, overlooks a tropical rain forest and their own volcano!

Getting There

Set on the eastern part of Old Road Town, Caribelle Batik is on the premises of Romney Manor, and invites residents and visitors exploring and shopping in this village or an adjacent neighborhood. Regardless of whether you're staying particularly close, you are free to drop by. If you're curious, Basseterre is five and a half miles (nine kilometers) to the east-southeast.

What's Nearby

Beyond Caribelle Batik, the opportunities to go shopping in this area are scarce.

In addition to shopping, you can find a handful of interesting attractions you might have fun visiting while you are in Old Road Town. If immersing yourself in a historical site sounds fun, plan on spending time at both Palmetto Point Fort and Romney Manor.
