Independence Square

Well named, Independence Square is the political, economic, and cultural center of the city, as well as the location of the Old Slave Market. Renamed "Independence Square" in honor of St. Kitt's independence on September 19, 1983, it helps pave a new way of freedom for the island and all of its inhabitants.


There are several historical attractions and shops for visitors to see either on or near the square. Anyone looking to explore the culture of the city will likely want to start here.

Of course, one of the most exciting options while spending a few hours exploring the area is eating fare at a restaurant within traveling distance of this historical site. Bambu's is an easy to reach bar and grill and the one of the fastest dining options from this site. The restaurant is a short distance away, but far-removed enough that you may want to aim for using some method of transportation to transport your party. Also within a short distance, you and your companions will find eateries such as Church's Chicken and Kim Sha's so you don't need to be picky, since you'll find a fair number restaurant choices.
