Well named, Independence Square is the political, economic, and cultural center of the city, as well as the location of the Old Slave Market. Renamed "Independence Square" in honor of St. Kitt's independence on September 19, 1983, it helps pave a new way of freedom for the island and all of its inhabitants.

There are several historical attractions and shops for visitors to see either on or near the square. Anyone looking to explore the culture of the city will likely want to start here.
