Cattlewash Beach

Cattlewash Beach, a long stretch of dark tan sand on the east coast of the island, features rugged cliffs and active waves that make for excellent surfing or a relaxing tanning spot. Casual swimming is discouraged, as the waves from the Atlantic make for strong currents, though the area contains rock pools for bathing.

Set in St. Joseph Parish, Cattlewash Beach is on the North East coast of Barbados. You should consider dropping by even if you aren't staying nearby. Cattlewash Beach stands out from other beaches because it's perfect for escaping over-crowded hangouts in the town proper. Most other beaches in Barbados offer views of the sea that are just as pretty, but tend to be busier because they border some of the area's most popular resorts.

How to Access The Beach
The beach is accessible via the Ermy Bourne Highway for both pedestrians and vehicles. The beach runs parallel to the highway, with parking areas at various points throughout.

Amenities and Ambiance

Cattlewash Beach stretches across the east coast of the island and is representative of the beauty of natural Barbados. Small, simple houses dot the otherwise natural landscape of tropical foliage and limestone rock formations. The tan sand is perfect for laying out, while the reef pools make for excellent areas to kick back.

Many visitors find themselves ordering a drink or snack from the concessions here, even if they move off-site for lunch.

Unfortunately, public restrooms aren't available, but you may be able to find facilities at a nearby business.

Cattlewash Beach brings visitors an idyllic and relaxing experience, since the surrounding area is far from urbanized.
