La Milpa Field Station

You won't find a property more eco-friendly thank this one. This field station uses eco-tourism as a way to support the local environment, rather than a way to make money because of it. Guests are invited to stay at this rustic field station and learn about local nature and culture while they do.

Located in Orange Walk District, 10.0 miles west-southwest of La Union, La Milpa Field Station offers a warm welcome to tourists wanting to stay in this part of Belize. It is 33.9 miles west-southwest of the center of Orange Walk.

Accommodations

Lodging options are either private cabanas or a bed in the dormitory. The cabanas are thatched with botan palms and have two double beds in the main room as well as a third double bed in the loft. The dorm, meanwhile has six rooms each equipped with four bunk beds and a fifth double bed in a loft.

There are eight trails to explore, and guides available to take you on a tour. Daily birding walks are available twice a day, and those who stay for several nights are treated to a night safari.

Food

Guests are treated to free meals in the dining room as part of their stay. Meals are served buffet style and feature traditional Belizean and North American cuisine. Dining times are 7:30 a.m. for breakfast noon for lunch, and 6:00 p.m. for dinner in the summer, but 6:30 p.m. in the summer.
