One of the newer, but certainly culturally significant attractions in the area, this interactive experience gets guests involved every step of the way as they visit one or two homes that showcase life in a Kek'chi Maya village.
Guests are invited into the homes of local Kek'chi Maya families to help with their every day tasks as they live and work off the land. You'll first meet the families and tour the homes, taking note that everything is hand made and even the youngest of children help complete the days activities. Then jump right in and help with things like grinding soaked corn and work in the garden. You are rewarded not only with a profound appreciation for the lives they lead, but a delicious traditional lunch as well.
Living Maya Experience is located in Toledo District, which means travelers to this area of Belize will have the benefit of easy site access for the duration of their trip. Though the area isn't a concentrated tourist destination, that doesn't mean you won't find a small number of hotel rooms to pick from.
