Tiger Cave

Named Tiger Cave after a dog chased a jaguar cub into a cave decades ago, this is a sought after tourist destination thanks to the fact that it is located on private property. Only about 30 to 40 people get to visit the cave with a tour guide each year.

Tiger Cave, which has a narrow and dark opening, features a number of large holes in the ceiling of the cave through which light streams in, highlighting the limestone floor and pieces of broken pottery that lie on a ledge.

The hike to Tiger Cave is a part of the experience. It takes about an hour and a half through the rainforest, and features such gems at a small hot spring known as the Blue Hole. After exploring the cave, you'll be able to swim in a nearby river if it is the dry season and the water level is low. Otherwise you can take a canoe downstream instead of returning on foot.
