If you're trying to save some money during your stay in Belmopan, the bus is a great way to do so, but there is one important fact about this form of transport that you'll need to know.
Individual towns and villages in Belize do not offer public transportation. There are, however, bus routes that travel between the major towns. Belmopan is a stop along the way from almost every bus service leaving Belize City, and from Belmopan you can travel to the south and stop in such cities as Dangriga, Placencia, San Ignacio, and Punta Gorda. The bus runs daily from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a new bus leaving approximately every half hour. The cost of your trip will depend on where you are traveling to.
|Route||Beginning||Stops Along the Route||End|
|Intercity Southbound||Belize City Terminal||Belmopan Bus Terminal, Dangriga Bus Terminal, Independence Bus Terminal||Punta Gorda Bus Terminal|
As you can see, local travel will not be possible by bus when you stay in Belmopan. If you have big plans to see more of Belize, or you need a way to get into town from airport, this is still a great option to consider.
