Castle Island

Known for the castle located on the island, this fortified land mass was used as a defensive position to protect Castle Harbour. It would serve this purpose in 1614 when it helped repel and attack on the harbor by the Spanish Navy.

Today, the fort stills stands, but is more ruin than fort. You will be able to see the main tower from the harbor, and with nothing but overgrown grass on Castle Island, visitors will have no trouble exploring.
