Mid Ocean Golf Club

Located on the westernmost side of the main island, this course has seen an impressive list of celebrities at one time or another, including Babe Ruth, Winston Churchill, and multiple US presidents. The course has a long history on the island and a reputation as one of the best courses in the world. It has gone through several renovations and modifications to keep it at a top level -- the most recent one in 2002.

Course Description

This golf course has made itself a classic spot to hit a round of golf, having been founded in 1921. The course layout, holes, and surprise challenges reflect the design of C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor, the architect of the course. It has earned a course rating of 71.3, and its 18 holes measure a total of 6095 yards. Also note that they've got a golf pro, Kevin Benevides, at the grounds, so consider golfing here if you think you could use a few pointers.

This winding course runs right up next to the ocean on 3 of its 4 sides, and a number of holes stretch out alongside and parallel to the ocean, making for some spectacular views. The course is dotted with bunkers and lakes, which can wreak havoc on players, as it apparently did for Babe Ruth who, legend has it, hit 11 straight balls into the same lake on the 5th hole. So be extra careful with that one.
