Stonehole Bay

This beach is often a secluded haven that hardly gets crowded. Wading is safe in the shallow waters, yet the tides can get rough and dangerous as you move deeper into the sea. The strong rock formations and dramatic hills gives visitors the impression of a tropical hideaway.

Situated toward the center of Warwick Parish, Stonehole Bay is on the South West coast of Bermuda. You might want to drop by regardless of whether you're staying very close. Stonehole Bay stands out because it's perfect for escaping the typical tourist haunts. Other nearby beaches on Bermuda may be just as pretty, but tend to be busier since they're near some of the most popular hotels.

How to Access The Beach
Access to the beach must be done by foot via the South Shore Park, meaning that the area is limited to those that are physically able. Vehicles should find the car park located at the intersection of South Road and Warwick Camp.

Amenities and Ambiance

With a sandy shoreline scattered with large rocks, Stonehole Bay is never very crowded. The shore literally disappears at high tide, so plan accordingly before heading out. The waters are rough sometimes, but near the shore it is safe to swim in the shallow bay. Rip tides and cloudy waters out near the coral make this spot a difficult and dangerous place to snorkel.

West of the beach is the Water Rocks Beach, featuring similar landscapes and South Shore Park to the north guarantees a buffer between the main road and the bay.

Many visitors find themselves ordering a drink or snack from the concessions here, even if they move off-site for lunch. Depending on the season and time of day, you may also be able to try local specialties from one of the mobile vendors who are typically found at this location.

One obvious convenience is this beach's picnic facilities, so you can save your picnic lunch from the sand.

Stonehole Bay does have public restrooms for your convenience. Usually devoid of many people, Stonehole Bay's charm is its seclusion. Both locals and tourists come to enjoy its shores but not in abundance.

You should remember that Stonehole Bay is in an area which is visited by quite a number of tourists, which means the availability of certain amenities is likely to be affected.
