Ferries to the Berry Islands

You can use ferries for a quick day trip, or as the main way you'll get to the Berry Islands

Throughout the Bahamas there are a number of different ferry services, and in some cases it is the only way to get to a particular island in the chain. The Berry Islands do have a few different transportation options, but the one that often appeals most to those on a tropical getaway is the ferry.

Riding the Ferries

There are two ferry services that those staying in the Berry Islands should be aware of. The first is a short trip between Great Harbour Cay and Little Stirrup Cay for $20(USD), and the second travels from New Providence Island, which is outside of the Berry Islands, to Great Harbour Cay.

The trip between New Providence Island and Great Harbour Cay is taken aboard a government run Mail Boat called the MV Captain Gurth Dean, which departs out of Potter's Cay at 7:00 p.m. on Fridays. The trip takes six hours and costs $60(USD) per person, and the return trip is on Sunday.
