Thanks to its stunning beachfront property, Boca Chica has transformed from a sleepy fishing village to a hopping resort destination in recent years.  Today, there is a lot to recommend the town, from a small collection of museums and cultural landmarks to the nature preserves that center on marine life, and even a casino at a local resort.

Juan Dolio Beach

There are a handful of beaches to enjoy in and around the area. You can click on the name of the beach for a detailed article concerning that beach.

If you are looking for a snorkeling spot, a beach with that option is Boca Chica. Boca Chica's shallow waters are great for swimming and snorkeling, especially around the coral reefs -- in fact, this beach is the largest reef protected bay in the Caribbean. Water sport equipment is available at stands along the beach, so visitors should find plenty to keep them busy.

A second alternative for beach-goers to consider is Caribe Beach. Speckled with coconut palm trees and beach chairs, Caribe Beach features powder soft white sand and shining topaz waters.

Playa Guayacanes: Despite the build up and crowds, Playa Guayacanes is able to maintain a remote tropical charm that is usually lost among popular beaches.

Boca Chica and the surrounding areas are home to other beaches to choose from. To get more information on beaches available, check out this page.

Assuming you like to explore other cultures and places, you should consider visiting a museum while on vacation in Boca Chica.

Nature Preserves and Hiking

Do you like being under the open sky? You might be happy to find out that the area has two interesting nature preserves in and nearby.

La Caleta Submarine Park is a nature preserve located 5.9 mi. West-Southwest of central Boca Chica. Created by scientists in order to see how marine life reacted to an artificial reef, this marine park is not not only a place for scientists to do their research, but a great dive site as well.
