Thanks to its stunning beachfront property, Boca Chica has transformed from a sleepy fishing village to a hopping resort destination in recent years. Today, there is a lot to recommend the town, from a small collection of museums and cultural landmarks to the nature preserves that center on marine life, and even a casino at a local resort.
There are a good group of beaches to choose from in and around the area. You can click on each beach name to get additional information about that part of the coast.
If you like snorkeling, a location where that's an option is Boca Chica. Boca Chica's shallow waters are great for swimming and snorkeling, especially around the coral reefs -- in fact, this beach is the largest reef protected bay in the Caribbean. Water sport equipment is available at stands along the beach, so visitors should find plenty to keep them busy.
Another place for beach-goers to consider is Caribe Beach. From Boca Chica, take Autopista de Este east for about ten minutes to get to Caribe Beach. There is a parking lot right off the road.
Playa Guayacanes: Despite the build up and crowds, Playa Guayacanes is able to maintain a remote tropical charm that is usually lost among popular beaches.
