Governor Gore's Bird Sanctuary

With over 200 different species of bird, Governor Gore's Bird Sanctuary is a destination of choice for birdwatchers that find themselves in the Cayman Islands.

With a few trails that will take people to some great bird lookout spots, birdwatchers will have plenty to do here. However, if bird-watching does not interest you, then this bird sanctuary may not be the place for you.

Location

Governor Gore's Bird Sanctuary is located near the center of Savannah, a village in the vicinity of Georgetown; it is two and a half miles (four kilometers) to the west of Bodden Town.

If you've worked up an appetite exploring the nature sanctuary, you're in luck, as you'll discover a broad selection of local dining spots in the vicinity. Domino's Savannah, which serves up Italian food, will be of particular interest to visitors looking for a convenient meal. Also within reach, you and your party will come across eateries including Dragon Garden Restaurant and Rankin's Jerk Pit where you and your companions will be able to try a bite of Jamaican food and experience the culture of the Cayman Islands.

Nearby Attractions

Visitors that like nature preserves, and would like to see others, should consider Meagre Bay Pond Animal Sanctuary and Mastic Reserve; the first of which is five miles to the east of this wildlife reservation. Other nearby activities include Old Savannah Schoolhouse, which is three quarters of a mile away Savannah. Furthermore, you can consider visiting Pedro St. James National Historic Site, which is another nearby attraction.
