Governor Gore's Bird Sanctuary

With over 200 different species of bird, Governor Gore's Bird Sanctuary is a destination of choice for birdwatchers that find themselves in the Cayman Islands.

With a few trails that will take people to some great bird lookout spots, birdwatchers will have plenty to do here. However, if bird-watching does not interest you, then this bird sanctuary may not be the place for you.


Located toward the center of Savannah, 4.6 miles east of Georgetown, Governor Gore's Bird Sanctuary invites local residents and tourists lodging in this village or nearby. But even if you aren't staying nearby, you should feel free to stop by to enjoy a great time. In case you're wondering, Bodden Town is two and a half miles (four kilometers) to the east.

Of course, one of the most delightful possibilities while spending a few hours exploring the area could be enjoying a dish at a restaurant within traveling distance of the nature preserve. Domino's Savannah, which sells Italian meals, is also the most convenient option for visitors of this nature preserve. Travelers who are a fan of wildlife reservations, and have the energy to view some others, should consider seeing Meagre Bay Pond Animal Sanctuary and Mastic Reserve; the first is five miles to the east of this page's attraction.
