Washington-Slagbaai National Park

Established in 1969, Washington Slagbaai National Park was the first nature sanctuary in the Netherland Antilles. Today, it covers an area of 5.643 hectares and visitors from around the globe come to marvel in the natural beauty of the area on a daily basis.

Visitors have a variety of activities available to them including touring the property by car, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, and birding.


Washington-Slagbaai National Park can be found on the northwestern edge of the island of Bonaire, 2.5 miles north-northwest of Rincon.

The park is open daily except for New Years and Christmas Day from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It takes about two hours to drive around the park, so guests are encouraged to arrive early. The latest guests are allowed to enter the park is 2:45 p.m.


Admission to the park is $25 for adults, and free for children under the age of 12. This gives guests admission for one year.
