This town is also home to not one, but two nature preserves which tourists are welcome to tour and explore. One is home to several species of endangered birds, while the other is one of seven state forests.

Refugio De Aves De Boqueron is a nature preserve found within Boqueron. Translated as the Boqueron Bird Refuge, the main purpose of the site is to provide a safe haven for the many migratory and native birds that call the area home for at least a season. Bird watchers can take the opportunity to visit the refuge and try to see some rare birds.
Those hoping to find a another great natural attraction will enjoy exploring sites like Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge. During the winter months, visitors will be given a prime opportunity to spot the endangered yellow-shouldered blackbirds, the primary residence of the wildlife refuge. The site has stations built up specifically to offer good views of the animals, so you should catch a glimpse of something, even in the summer months.
Punta Pitahaya Nature Area: When in the area of Coba, just take the Route 302 south towards the coast. Towards the end, you will find youself inside the nature park.
