Brownes Beach

Brownes Beach is located shortly outside of the capital city and features a long strip of white sand. One of the largest beaches in Barbados, Brownes Beach looks out to the Carlisle Bay, whose calm turquoise waters are perfect for snorkeling, scuba diving, and swimming.

Positioned a quarter mile southeast of downtown Bridgetown, Brownes Beach is on the South coast of Barbados. You might want to drop by regardless of whether you're staying very close. Brownes Beach is the sort of attraction where nearby hotel guests go to be among the crowds, and there are numerous things to see and find around the beach - it's anything but dull.

How to Access The Beach
The beach is accessible to both pedestrians and vehicles and lies directly off of Highway 7. Parking is available at various points off of the highway.

Amenities and Ambiance

Brownes Beach connects to Pebbles Beach on the north and is one of the few beaches that can be seen from one of the main roads. Local restaurants and resorts surround the area, while the beach itself consists of smooth, white sand. The pristine sand extends into the bay, which is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Shipwrecks lie off the coast and provide an excellent opportunity for underwater adventures.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. You will find the water here is clear and good for snorkeling, so grab some equipment if you want to see what lies beneath the surface.

Since Brownes Beach is found in an area that sees many visitors, you might want consider the time when you plan your visit.

Other Beaches

Needless to say, there are other beaches in Barbados besides Brownes Beach worth visiting.

If the active mood at Brownes Beach has you wanting more of the same, you'll want to consider checking out Gibbs Beach, a spot with the same type of electricity. You'll find it ten and a half miles to the north. If you'd rather try a more private, less popular location, Pebbles Beach may be a good choice. You'll find it just a short distance away.

You may also enjoy Carlisle Bay, located a half mile to the north-northwest.

While the area offers plenty of picturesque views and exciting attractions, Brownes Beach is both a refreshing place to relax, and a beautiful natural attraction.
