Brownes Beach

Brownes Beach is located shortly outside of the capital city and features a long strip of white sand. One of the largest beaches in Barbados, Brownes Beach looks out to the Carlisle Bay, whose calm turquoise waters are perfect for snorkeling, scuba diving, and swimming.

Located a quarter mile southeast of downtown Bridgetown, Brownes Beach is on the South edge of Barbados. You might want to drop by regardless of whether you are staying very close. If activity and variety isn't your thing, you'll be glad that beaches here are generally pretty quiet. This atmosphere is not for everyone, though. If you seek a fun and active spot, you're better suited for one of the few lively beaches, like Brownes Beach.

How to Access The Beach

The beach is accessible to both pedestrians and vehicles and lies directly off of Highway 7. Parking is available at various points off of the highway.

Amenities and Ambiance

Brownes Beach connects to Pebbles Beach on the north and is one of the few beaches that can be seen from one of the main roads. Local restaurants and resorts surround the area, while the beach itself consists of smooth, white sand. The pristine sand extends into the bay, which is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Shipwrecks lie off the coast and provide an excellent opportunity for underwater adventures.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, so if you're visiting with small children you might want to consider a different location. The water in the area is fit for snorkeling, so purchase or rent some gear if you're hoping to see what lies beneath the surface.

Don't forget that the immediate vicinity around Brownes Beach is an urban area, so plan accordingly.
