The largest fort on the island, the British built it Charles Fort originally as Fort Needham in the 1650's. The fort was fully incorporated into the rest of the garrison in 1836. Today it is part of the Hilton in the area, but has largely been left as it, so visitors and explore Fort Charles and take a look at the mighty defenses the British were willing to build in order to protect Barbados.
