Rhone Marine Park

Rhone Marine Park, the British Island's only marine national park, is located just off Salt Island and spans 800 acres including Dead Chest Island. Home to a ship wreck that has become a favored dive locale,

The wreckage site is 310 feet long and 40 feet wide, and is split into two parts. The first section is located at Lee Bay and includes decking, rigging, the steam engine, and the propeller. The Anchor, meanwhile, is located outside Great Harbour. The depth of the dive ranges from 30 to 90 feet.

Rhone Marine Park revolves around a Royal Mail Steamer wreck which sunk in 1867 with 125 people board during a hurricane. Divers enjoy exploring the wreck site, with the bonus of finding examples of a fringing reef habitat and sea grass beds.


Rhone Marine Park is located in the British Virgin Islands, 6.0 miles southeast of downtown Road Town; it's six miles (nine and a half kilometers) to the southeast of Road Town.

Tradewinds Restaurant and Cooper Island Beach Club Restaurant are some more dining options close-by. At Cooper Island Beach Club Restaurant you and your party should not ask for your check without ordering a plate of their specialty, seafood, among others.
