White Bay Beach

Protected by a gorgeous coral reef system and lined with beach bars, White Bay Beach is a great spot no matter what your favored beach activities are.

Located on Peter Island, 5.8 miles south-southeast of downtown Road Town, White Bay Beach is on the South West edge of the island, You might want even if you aren't staying in the vicinity. White Bay Beach is a distinguishable relaxation spot because it's one of the best spots for escaping the typical tourist haunts. Other nearby beaches in the Virgin Islands may have the same warm sand and calming breezes as White Bay Beach, but are usually busier because they're frequented by tourists looking for a lively scene.

Amenities and Ambiance

White Bay stretches for about a half a mile and is undeveloped outside of a few beach bars. The soft white sands are lapped by perfect turquoise waters, and the reef is so close to the shore that snorkeling is a must.

Please note that public restrooms are not available, but you may be able to find facilities at a nearby business. Fortunately, the water here is fit for snorkeling, so bring along some gear if you want to see what lies beneath the surface.

Cities and Towns

White Bay Beach is close to Road Town, so walking the city is a definite option. The city of Road Town is close-by and is an area with plenty to do, but yet isn't overcrowded. From the beach, Road Town is a little ways off, maybe five and a half miles (nine kilometers) away.


The number of other people sharing spots in the sand can vary widely, it depends mainly on when you visit, and how many hotel rooms have been booked nearby. The area does not have very many large hotels, but it can appeal to visitors from smaller accommodations in the area.

Since the beach is in a pretty popular tourist destination, it is not typically a great challenge to find exactly the kind of hotel you're looking for close-by. Peter Island has several beautiful beaches, so perhaps you can explore more than one.

Another location you might enjoy is Nanny Cay, situated five miles away. However, if that's not exactly what you're looking for, Deadman's Bay could provide more action, and isn't far from additional things to do and see nearby. It's located a half mile to the northeast.

Another sun-drenched spot to consider is The Bight, which is located three and a half miles to the south west.

White Bay Beach could be the ideal stretch of sand, but it is possible that it may not be the best choice for your family; in which case you should keep looking for a beach or natural attraction that suits your vacation style.
