Attractions in Cabarete

Known as a top kite-surfing destination in the Caribbean, few people know how much more there is to Cabarete to explore.  Options range from historic and cultural museums to national parks, a zip-line through the forest, a casino, and much more. 


Cabarete Beach

You'll discover several beaches to consider in and around the area. Just click on the name of each beach for a detailed article concerning that beach.

Cabarete Beach: Cabarete Beach scoops into the coast with its golden sands and aqua colored waters. The surf can be rough here, but the onshore atmosphere is thick with excitement and adventure as kite surfers head out to catch some waves.

Another option to consider is Kite Beach. Dipping slightly into the northern coast, Kite Beach is known for its wavy waters that are aquamarine. The shore, meanwhile, is a dark tan colored sand lined with brush and palm trees.

Bozo Beach: Bozo Beach can be reached via a short dirt road off Highway 3, right next to Big Air Kite School.

Jewish Museum of Sosua

Assuming you like to expand your knowledge of unfamiliar places and cultures, you might want to visit a museum during your time in Cabarete.

A common landmark for vacationers is Museo De La Comunidad Judía De Sosúa. It is located in Sosua, 7.0 mi. West of central Cabarete. The museum is open from 9:00am to 4:00pm, with a one hour break at 1:00.

Another landmark that often intrigues visitors is Jewish Museum of Sosua. It is located within Sosua, 7.0 mi. West of central Cabarete. Starting in 1940 during Hitler's Reign in Germany and the rise of Nazism across Europe, many European Jews fled their homeland to seek a safe haven. Between 1940 and 1945, around 700 Jewish refugees settled in modern day Sousa and started a new rural life.

Do you hope to spend more of your vacation time seeing the local flaura and fauna? You may be happy to find out that the area has a nice nature preserve nearby.

El Choco National Park is a nature preserve situated 2.2 mi. South West of central Cabarete. El Choco offers a variety of activities that generally include hiking in some way. However, the main attraction are the caves that are found in the park.

Although most tourists come for the beautiful coastline, that isn't the only way to experience the area's natural beauty. The one example is Cuevas De Cabarete. It is located 3.5 mi. South of central Cabarete.
