The Bahamas are known for their pleasurable sailing conditions, and Cable Beach is no exception. This destination is frequented by avid sailors who sail in aboard their private vessels, but also loved by those who don't have the skills to sail themselves because it is easy to sign up for a locally-hosted sea tour.

If you're planning to sail a private or chartered yacht to your Cable Beach vacation, you shouldn't have too much trouble making arrangements to do so. The travel time between Miami, Florida and Nassau is just eight hours, and this town is known for having the best provisioning in the islands – despite the 20 to 100 percent price mark ups.

If you're just wanting to experience some time on the open water, without the stress and cost of sailing on your own you can take an excursion. Take a look at the listing below to find information on area day sail providers.

The great thing about sailing to Cable Beach is that every marina on New Providence Island is considered to be an official port-of-entry, so you can find a marina right along the resort strip (perhaps even connected to your accommodations of choice), and sail directly in without having to first speak to customs. Customs will meet you at your reserved slip as long as you contact them to let them know you are on your way and fly your yellow quarantine flag on the way on.

Everyone on board will be required to fill out an immigration card, which also means each person will need to present a passport, proof of citizenship, and one other form of identification. With all that taken care of, you'll pay between $150 and $300(USD) depending on the length of your boat for your cruising and fishing permit for up to four people. The price goes up the more people you're sailing with. You can obtain more information about sailing to the area by calling the Port Authority at 242-322-1596 or 242-326-7354.
