Traveling to Calibishie by Airplane

Air travel is an important way to get to Calibishie

Known as one of the most beautiful stretches of land on Dominica, tourists on their way to Calibishie have bustling fishing villages, rugged mountain landscapes, and tropical beaches. Before your arrival to this picturesque destination, you'll have a bit of work to do planning how to get there. Air travel is the most popular choice for transportation despite the fact that nonstop flights are unavailable.

Dominica's busiest airport is Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM), which is located about 15 minutes away from this part of the island. Unfortunately, it is not a major international facility which means that visitors from the United States, Canada, and Europe will always have to stop at another island in the Caribbean before continuing on to their final destination. Sint Maarten, Puerto Rico, Antigua, Barbados, Guadeloupe, and Martinique are the main choices for connections, though you may be able to find flights into other airports in the region on occasion.

When you arrive at Douglas-Charles Airport, you'll find it to be a small facility that is open daily until 10:0 p.m., and has a snack bar that is rarely actually open. As you begin researching your options for flying to Calibishie, you may find information on another airport called Canefield Airport(DCF) which is located near Roseau. Don't be fooled, this is a much smaller air strip that typically only welcomes planes utilized for courier services, and not one for tourists to fly into.
