Calibishie Beach

The main beach of the Calibishie area, Calibishie Beach is lined with villas, shops, and people ready to relax. All this creates a fun mix of the more tourist oriented beaches of the south, and the calm quiet beaches of the north; a great beach on its own and an even better compromise.

Situated in the heart of Calibishie, Calibishie Beach is on the North edge of Dominica. You might want even if you aren't staying in the immediate vicinity. Calibishie Beach is the kind of hot spot where everyone from families to honeymooners congregate, and there is plenty of beach action to keep them busy - this beach is definitely not for someone seeking peace and quiet, but could be just right for you.

How to Access The Beach

All you have to do to get to the beach is head to Calibishie. Once in the town just head north, the beach takes up the entire coast.

Amenities and Ambiance

With everything going on at Calibishie Beach, the beach can get a little crowded, especially considering that palm trees and buildings have already taken most of the space.

Unfortunately, public restrooms aren't available, which is something to consider if you're bringing the kids, or plan to spend all day outside.

Since Calibishie Beach is located inside a commonly visited area, you might want consider the time when you plan your visit.

Travelers will find Calibishie Beach on Dominica's North coast. You can stay at the nearby Veranda View, that can be found pretty close-by. Some will choose to take a cab here, while others will prefer the walk to this hotel, perhaps the most conveniently located booking option reachable from Calibishie Beach, despite the lack of additional attractions in the region.

Cities and Towns

The closest town is , which is in an area with interesting things to do and see, but isn't as sprawling and crowded as some other areas. From the shore, Calibishie is just up the road, maybe about a hundred yards (a couple hundred meters).


Whether or not you encounter many other people will vary depending on the time of day, particularly in the high season when hotels overflow with tourists. There are not many major hotels nearby, but you may encounter guests staying at the few small lodgings in the area.

One of the best ways to round off a laid-back trek to the beach is to try a nearby restaurant, where you'll be able to sample regional favorites, within a reachable distance. One of the closest restaurants is Coral Reef Restaurant. This restaurant features Caribbean food. They have become well-known, however, because of their barbecue and seafood.

Other Beaches

Vacationers searching for the perfect beach will have plenty of other choices on Dominica besides Calibishie Beach.

If the vibrant atmosphere of Calibishie Beach is what you're looking for, you'll want to consider heading to Hampstead Beach, a beach with a similar ambiance. You'll find it less than a mile to the west. The enchanting Hampstead Beach is considered by some to be one of Dominica's nicest beaches If it's solitude and tranquility you're seeking, Hodges Beach is a beach removed from some more heavily-traveled spots. You'll find it only a short distance away.

You may also want to consider Anse du Mai, which is located only a short distance away.

Of course, Dominica has hundreds of natural wonders to discover, but visiting Calibishie Beach or the other beautiful beaches in the area can make your time on Dominica even more memorable.
