L'Anse Tortue is one of Dominica's softest sand beaches. Swimming can be rough, but you can enjoy laying a towel right on the soft sand to sunbathe, or take a barefoot stroll.

Set in Woodford Hill, L'Anse Tortue is on the North edge of Dominica. You might want to drop by even if you are not staying particularly close by. Vacationers who want a somewhat serene and secluded beach, that's also not too far from the town's amenities might enjoy stopping by L'Anse Tortue for a few hours. It's not one of the beaches that's always brimming with visitors, but it also doesn't completely lack a social atmosphere.

How to Access The Beach
You can access this beach by car from the main coastal road, but there is no signage to mark its location.

Amenities and Ambiance

On the northeast coast, this tan sand beach is also known as Turtle Bay because sea turtles often lay eggs here. It's near Woodford Hill and bigger Calibishie if you need to head into town from here. Land masses jut out on either side of this beach, but the waters can still be quite rough.

The concession stand on-site could come in handy, even if you plan to have lunch elsewhere. Depending on the season and time of day, you may also be able to get lunch from one of the mobile vendors who typically set up at this spot.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business.
