This beach boasts clear, warm waters and some good snorkeling spots. It's also safe to swim in and in possession of some of the island's softest sand.

Set on the northern side of the island of Dominica, You should think about stopping by even if you aren't staying particularly close by. Woodford Hill Bay stands out from other beaches because it's one of the best spots for escaping the typical tourist haunts. Most other beaches on Dominica may be just as breezy and refreshing, but tend to be more crowded since they're near some of the most popular hotels.

How to Access The Beach
It's no trouble getting to this beach as it's visible from the main road. It's near the town of Woodford Hill and you'll recognize it by the rocky cape on it's eastern side.

Amenities and Ambiance

A sandy shoreline near a stunning cape, Woodford Hill Bay is on the island's northeast edge. It's a great sightseeing locale.

Even if you plan to dine elsewhere, the snack bar on-site could come in handy. If available, you could also get lunch from one of the local vendors who typically set up at this spot.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. On Woodford Hill Bay beach you'll discover friendly fishermen waiting for you to lend a hand in bringing their daily catch.

Woodford Hill Bay is always a lovely side-trip when you're in the area. Look for it on Dominica's North coast. Accommodations nearby include the Calibishie Cove, which is perhaps the most conveniently located place to stay reachable from Woodford Hill Bay, even though there aren't many additional attractions within driving distance.

The nearby town of Calibishie is noted for its balance between seclusion and urbanization. From Woodford Hill Bay, Calibishie is a quick trip away, roughly two miles (three and a half kilometers).


How many other people you encounter at Woodford Hill Bay will depend on if you visit during a popular season, which is often indicated by how busy the hotels are. There aren't many large hotels nearby, but you may see visitors staying at smaller lodgings in the area.

Visitors searching for the perfect beach on Dominica will have lots of options besides Woodford Hill Bay.

You might also enjoy Calibishie Beach, situated just a little ways away. More active guests, though, may be interested in L'Anse Noire, which could provide a few more possibilities for excitement, and is closer to nearby attractions. It's found a quarter mile to the west.

Travelers may also want to consider Middle Bay, located four miles to the southeast.
