If your Calliste stay will begin as a yachting adventure, you'll find the process of sailing to Grenada fairly typical of other locations in the area, including the process of clearing in at a nearby port of entry.

Boat Rentals and Charters

Calliste is not a coastal community, but it is still near enough the sea that you can make easy plans to spend a few hours out sailing by chartering a boat during your stay.  Your best option will be to head to St. George's, where you'll find the most options and thus the most competitive prices and high quality vessels.

Your first stop when you arrive in local waters will be to fly your yellow “Q” flag as you sail into an official port of entry.  There are several in St. George's if you arrive from the west, and one in St. David's Bay if you arrive from the east.  Make sure to stay to the left side of the red buoys and they will guide you right into the harbor.  

You can contact Customs via VHF radio channel 16 in order to let them know you are on your way.  Offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and they usually break for lunch between 11:40 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  On Friday, they remain open an extra hour, while on Saturday and Sunday they are only open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  

In order to clear customs, you'll need to present four copies of your crew list and a declaration of the ship's stores.  Each person aboard will also need to how their passport ad immigration paperwork.  Finally, you will need to purchase a cruising permit, which costs $18 to 60(USD) depending on the length of your vessel.  With your cruising permit in hand, you'll be able to sail in local waters and find a place to dock before continuing on to Calliste by land.
