Because the waters around the Playa Marlin beach tend to be rough, swimming can be difficult and even dangerous off these shores. But the same conditions that make it dangerous for swimmers make it ideal for watersports, particulary sail boarding and parasailing. Beachgoers will also find several bars and restaurants nearby.

Set in Cancun Beach Hotel Zone, Playa Marlin is on the East coast of Mexico. You should think about stopping by even if you are not staying nearby. Many of the other beaches in Cancun are known for being quite secluded, offering beautiful backdrops and few disturbances. While these qualities are undoubtedly perfect for some, others crave the action and variety present at beaches like Playa Marlin.

How to Access The Beach
Playa Marlin is located off Kulkulkan Boulevard, at the end of Tepen Road. Exiting off Kulkulkan, Tepen begins as a paved road, but quickly turns sandy as it leads you to the beach. Park along the sandy part of the road between two hotels.

Amenities and Ambiance

The Playa Marlin beach features such extensive white-sand shores that this spectacular stretch is almost never crowded. Located on Cancun's east coast, this beach has higher winds and larger waves than Mexico's northern side.

The concession stand on-site could come in handy, even if you plan to have lunch elsewhere. If available, you could also get lunch from one of the mobile vendors who are typically found at this location.

Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, so if you're visiting with small children you might want to consider a different location. Playa Marlin is such a large beach that it's almost always possible to find a stretch that's not too crowded. Locate a spot that's just to your liking and enjoy some of that famous Caribbean sunshine.

Keep in mind that Playa Marlin's location is highly urbanized, so make sure to get a spot!
