Because the waters around the Playa Marlin beach tend to be rough, swimming can be difficult and even dangerous off these shores. But the same conditions that make it dangerous for swimmers make it ideal for watersports, particulary sail boarding and parasailing. Beachgoers will also find several bars and restaurants nearby.

Situated in Cancun Beach Hotel Zone, Playa Marlin is on the East edge of Mexico. You should think about stopping by even if you are not staying in the vicinity. If you prefer to escape the buzz of the city, it's good to know that Cancun has plenty of secluded beaches. Then again, if you'd rather not visit an empty, untouched part of the coast, you're probably more likely to have fun at Playa Marlin, which is closer to all the action.

How to Access The Beach
Playa Marlin is located off Kulkulkan Boulevard, at the end of Tepen Road. Exiting off Kulkulkan, Tepen begins as a paved road, but quickly turns sandy as it leads you to the beach. Park along the sandy part of the road between two hotels.

Amenities and Ambiance

The Playa Marlin beach features such extensive white-sand shores that this spectacular stretch is almost never crowded. Located on Cancun's east coast, this beach has higher winds and larger waves than Mexico's northern side.

Lots of visitors here find that the on-site snack bar is just fine for lunch. Sometimes, visitors will be able to order lunch from one of the local vendors who operate at or near this spot.

Unfortunately, public restrooms aren't available, so those of you traveling with small children may want to consider another spot. Playa Marlin is such a large beach that it's almost always possible to find a stretch that's not too crowded. Locate a spot that's just to your liking and enjoy some of that famous Caribbean sunshine.

Since Playa Marlin happens to be found in an area commonly frequented by travelers, many try to show up early.
