Sweeping along the west coast of St. Lucia are the beaches of Castries.  They exist mainly as part of natural bays with soft sand and often a lot of shade.  Thanks to the location of the ports and the resorts that line the shores, the beaches can be busy, but a quick trip just north of town will allow you find some more secluded options.

The Area's Beaches

You'll discover a large selection of beaches to enjoy in and around the area. Snorkeling is an option at some of these beaches, for those who enjoy this relaxing pastime. For a detailed review of one particular beach click on the names of the ones you're interested in.

La Toc Beach

Malabar Beach: The golden sands of Malabar Beach sit right in between Choc Beach and the Vigie Airport, where you'll find scores of beachgoers lounging in chairs under umbrellas, and many others in the gentle, blue waters of the bay. Off to the right, you'll have a lovely view of nearby Rat Island.

A second location for beach-goers to consider is Choc Beach. The smooth blue waters of Choc Bay are peaceful and great for swimming. This gorgeous stretch of sand is lined by majestic coconut palms, which provide an excellent source of shade for overheated beachgoers.

Labrelotte Bay: Labrelotte Bay has scooped out a crescent shape of beach on the island's northeast coast. Along the tan colored sands, deep blue waters rush ashore, and there is a roped off section for swimming.
