Sweeping along the west coast of St. Lucia are the beaches of Castries. They exist mainly as part of natural bays with soft sand and often a lot of shade. Thanks to the location of the ports and the resorts that line the shores, the beaches can be busy, but a quick trip just north of town will allow you find some more secluded options.

Malabar Beach: The golden sands of Malabar Beach sit right in between Choc Beach and the Vigie Airport, where you'll find scores of beachgoers lounging in chairs under umbrellas, and many others in the gentle, blue waters of the bay. Off to the right, you'll have a lovely view of nearby Rat Island.
A second place to consider is Choc Beach. This beach is easily accessible by car which you can do by taking the John Compton Hwy north. As it passes by the George FL Charles Airport, you'll go through a roundabout turning the road into the Gros Islet Hwy.
