Castries Buses

Maybe you don't like driving in a foreign country, or perhaps you want to save a few bucks instead of hailing a taxi every time you need a ride.  Whatever the reason, taking the bus is a possibility that exists for tourists visiting Castries.

Primarily used by locals, the bus system in Castries consists of a collection of privately owned minivans with a 14-passenger capacity that travel both in town and around the island to and from Rodney Bay,Vieux Fort, and Gros Islet.

There are marked stops throughout town, and as you get on you can let the driver know where you're headed and he or she will tell you the fare.  Fares to the north range from EC$1.50 to EC$2.50 and must be paid in local currency. The buses do not have set times that they make stops in certain locations, but they do continue to run in a loop until 10:00 p.m., and sometimes later on weekends, though buses rarely run on Sundays.

Buses are recognizable thanks to the green license plate with the letter "M" at the beginning of the tag and the yellow sticker on the front of the bus that tells which route it travels on.
