Government House

The current Government House is the third incarnation, with the first being destroyed in 1817, and the second abandoned in 1865. The third and final Government House was completed in 1895. Since its first completion, the Government House has served as the residence of the Governor of St. Lucia, until the island was granted commonwealth status. Since the 1979 independence, the Governor-General has used the residence.

Government House guests will have access to a modest selection of island activities like golfing and taking to the coast not far away. Visitors who enjoy showing their skills on the golf course, can do so at the most convenient golfing option, which is Sandals St. Lucia La Toc Golf. Many moments can also be spent at La Toc Beach, the most close-by beach. Though you won't find an extensive selection nearby, a few additional comparable outdoor possibilities to choose from nearby. Historic site guests will also find a variety of indoor attractions within a reasonable distance. You'll find a couple of places you may enjoy -Derek Walcott Square and Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception- each of them found a short distance from the historic site.

Operating Hours

The Government House is open to visitors Tuesday and Thursday between 10:00am and noon, as well as from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, by appointment only. There are no open-house hours, everyone wanting to visit must call ahead.
