Government House

The current Government House is the third incarnation, with the first being destroyed in 1817, and the second abandoned in 1865. The third and final Government House was completed in 1895. Since its first completion, the Government House has served as the residence of the Governor of St. Lucia, until the island was granted commonwealth status. Since the 1979 independence, the Governor-General has used the residence.

The Government House is a popular attraction for anyone interested on St. Lucia history and Victorian architecture. Just be sure to make an appointment if you want to tour the inside.
