The Hermitage

Tucked away on Cat Island is the retirement home of Father Jerome, seemingly out place. The Hermitage acts as a one-man monastery made of stone, seeming to mimic the aesthetics of a historical Irish structure. Set right on Mount Alvernia, this location overlooks the island and provides a beautiful view of the sunset.

The Hermitage is on top of the highest peak found in the Bahamas. Father Jerome was an architect, spending much of his time designing many of the churches in the island chain. He retired in this structure, and was buried beneath it as requested, making this a large memorial. If nothing else, it is an impressive structure, as he built it himself. Still, it is a gorgeous piece of land. For those who enjoy hiking, making the trip is a must.
