Thanks to its location in the central mountain range, many visitors assume they will be unable to find taxis in Cayey. While it is true that they aren't as prevalent here as in San Juan, for example, you can certainly call and get a ride anywhere you want to go in this naturally beautiful town.
Taxis are easily spotted out on the streets because they are white and have the words “Taxi Touristico” scrawled on the front of the vehicle. You can flag one down on the street or call and have a driver pick you up at your desired location by calling and speaking to a dispatcher who will send someone out to your location.
If you can't find a cab, or would prefer having one pick you up from your location, you can contact one of these taxi agencies:

|(787) 738-4343||Baldorioty - Cayey|
Most tourists find the cost of hailing a cab in Cayey to be very reasonable at just $1 base and $0.10(USD) for each one-third mile driven. Up to five passengers can ride together at once, making it even cheaper if everyone splits the cost. Most drivers actually prefer to leave the meter off, so feel free to hop in and negotiate a flat rate.
If you'd like to take a taxi from the international airport in San Juan to Cayey; however, you'll pay a set rate of $70(USD), which is often more than the cost of a car rental for one day. Gratuities are not required, but they are an important way for you to thank your driver for his or her service. Consider adding 10 to 15 percent of your total bill for the tip.
