Almost all of the beaches on the island of St. Thomas are located within five miles of Charlotte Amalie, which means that even if you don't find a location that works for you right in town, you don't have to travel far to reach another. Magen's Bay is best known for its excellent facilities, but it will be more crowded than if you were to head to Hull Bay just west of Magen's.
You'll find several beaches to consider, though they are all found nearby. Snorkeling is available at several locations, if some members of your party are so inclined. You can click on the name of each beach for more detail concerning that beach.
A location where snorkeling is a popular is Magens Bay. Magen's Bay Road (Route 35) allows drivers to ride directly up to the beach entrance.
Another top pick for snorkelers is Honeymoon Beach. The beach can be accessed off of Main Road, but be advised that Water Island must be reached via boat.
Emerald Beach: Named after the nearby airport, Lindbergh Bay is home to Emerald Beach, which provides soft, white sand that's popular with locals. The occasional sound of planes and proximity to the airport tends to deter tourists, though it is perfect for those that want calm waters and soft sand, without the hassle of a crowd.
