Come explore the fascinating world of butterflies at the Butterfly Garden. Located at the end of the Havensight cruise ship dock, this is a great relaxing place to visit where you see exotic species of butterflies from around the world including South America, Asia and Africa. You’ll learn about these amazing creatures which brings delight to children when they get such an interactive experience. If you just want to take pictures of these natural beauties you are welcome to do that as well.

Guests visiting the -Butterfly Garden will be enchanted and appreciate these very important insects as they encounter hundreds of butterflies. As you walk through the garden, you will be accompanied by a knowledgeable tour guide that will give you interesting, fun facts about butterflies and answer any questions that you may have.

Butterfly Garden


Situated on the edge of Charlotte Amalie, a quarter mile southeast of the "downtown" area, Butterfly Garden happily welcomes vacationers lodging in or near this part of the city. Even if you aren't staying in this location, you are free to drop by to enjoy a great time.

When you get into Havensight Mall, go towards the dock and turn left. Then follow the signs towards the end of the dock. There is free parking available just opposite the Butterfly Garden, if you’re driving down.

Nearby Restaurants

If you develop an appetite during your visit to the gardens, don't worry -- you'll find numerous choices of food and drink providers in this general area. The Delly Deck, which has a menu full of American meals, is very close-by, making it a great option for garden visitors. The restaurant is a brief distance away, but out of the way enough that you may decide to make plans for having a method of transportation to travel there. Great Wall Restaurant and Havensight Cafe offer additional refreshment choices nearby where travelers will have the chance to try a new dish and experience the Virgin Islands culture.

The Butterfly Garden and Gift Shop is open when there are cruise ships docked at Havensight from 8:30am until 4:00pm. Feel free to call or email before planning your visit.


Admission costs $12 (USD) for adults and $6(USD) for children four to twelve years old , while children three and under are free. This admission gives you access to both the Exotic species garden exhibit and botanical garden with various local plants. If you are staying on St. Thomas for a few days, you get a return pass to revisit the garden while you’re on the island with no added charge. Don’t forget to ask for any coupons, Combo passes or memberships they may have for other interesting attractions on the islands.
