Charlotte Amalie used to be the center of all nightlife activity on the island, but in recent years, as tourism has grown, this has become less so.  If you're staying in town, you'll still find this to be a great destination to get out an have a little after hours fun.  Resorts usually have live music and the bars stay open a little later on property than those that are privately owned.
