The Romans and Greeks weren't the only column builders. Part of the greater Chichen Itza ruins, these columns give insight into the kind of complicated structures completed by the Mayas.
The Colonnades structure is made up of over five hundred columns that form an "L" shape. In total it takes over 3500 stones to make this complex, and that is not even including the roof that once stood on top of the columns.
Consider staying in Chichen Itza if you plan on visiting Colonnades, since those visiting this part of Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean will be excited to have easy access to this historic attraction during their time there. You won't find the area surrounding the historical site flooded with tourists, perhaps because there aren't many lodgings in the vicinity.
