Known as one of the most popular sea ports in Belize, Corozal is one of the best destinations for those interested in spending some time out on the water. There are plenty of ways to make this happen, from booking an excursion to hiring a charter. Some experienced sailors will even travel from international waters and dock locally.
There are a number of different excursions that tourists can take advantage in Corozal. Whatever your interests are, your sure to be able to find some way to get to experience it, from snorkeling and diving, to fishing, and even just a relaxing sail up and down the coast.
There are two types of charters to know about in Corozal. The first is the type where experienced sailors take the helm of a yacht and sail on their own. The other option is for a local operator to take you on a private sail that can last anywhere from a few hours to several days. Typically meals and activities are included in the price of this type of charter.
For those who will be sailing themselves into local waters and potentially docking at Corozal Bay Sailing Club, there are a few things to know about as you begin planning. The first is that you have 24 hours from the time you arrive in local waters to dock and meet with customs officials. There, you will need to submit four copies of the boat's official documentation, crew list, and ship's stores. Every member aboard will also need to present a passport and in some cases a visa to immigrations. Once you've been cleared, you are welcome to sail around the country's waters for up to 90 days.
