The remote yet stunningly beautiful beach of Playa Bonita is located on the northern shore of the island of Cozumel and features pristine sands and spectacular scenery. This crescent-shaped cove, dotted with majestic palm trees, overlooks crystal clear Caribbean waters.

Many visitors find themselves ordering a drink or snack from the concessions here, even if they move off-site for lunch. On some days, it may be possible to get lunch from one of the mobile vendors who typically set up at this spot.

Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, but you may be able to find facilities at a nearby business. The oceanfront setting at Playa Bonita is that of romantic seclusion. This beach is the perfect place to take that special someone on a picnic for two or enchanting stroll at sunset.

If you find that you enjoy shores that bring visitors a quiet place to escape, then you will want to try Playa Bonita; it's back within a more natural sector of the region.

Cities and Towns

It might take some time to get there, but Playa del Carmen is the nearest city, about nearby_cities.0.distance.text away, is the closest population center. although there are some smaller settlements closer to the beach.


Whether this spot is full of bodies or practically empty will depend on how many hotel guests decide to make the trip as well.

Don't anticipate finding any of Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean's large resorts alongside this beach, though if you're trying to avoid hoards of vacationers, the shortage of places to stay should be a welcomed sight.


You might not run into any places to grab a bit to eat in the immediate surroundings of this beach, so it would be a good idea to pack a lunch for your day in the sun.

Cozumel has several beautiful beaches, so if Playa Bonita doesn't sound like your type of scene, you have options.

Another location you might enjoy is Sunset Beach, which also offers ample peace and tranquility. Still, if you're searching for something a little more active, you might find that Playa Xhanan is just right. You'll find it four miles to the north-northeast.

Travelers may also want to consider Santa Pilar, which is located just a cab ride away. Although there is little privacy on the Santa Pilar beach, vacationers staying at nearby hotels and resorts will love the convenient location of these shores.

There are countless experiences to enjoy in Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean, and paying a visit to Playa Bonita is just one way you can spend your afternoon.
